#CULTURE

The inseparable link they establish with the urban fabric is in the history of the great European universities.

Enhancing the cultural resources of the city, intertwining the university cultural offer with the urban one, involving students in the life of the city are just some of the objectives that we propose today within the Puglia University Project.

This line of research has the ambition, in fact, to outline new cultural scenarios, placing the University at the center as an urban actor of primary importance, strategic hub of the city and catalyst of human capital, through the production and circulation of culture and knowledge.

Starting from the principles of the Faro Convention according to which the aspect of the perception of the population and citizens towards cultural resources, identified as a dynamic, plural and complex value, assumes great importance,

the first phase of the investigation involves:

  • a census of cultural sites (museums, libraries, university archives, but also student centers, student associations) and of cultural production events directly managed by the Apulian universities, studying their essential characteristics not only in relation to the current situation but also to the previous one;
  • a survey that extends beyond the university community to involve the main animators of cultural life in the Apulian university cities (cinemas, theaters, publishing houses, newspapers) active in the main sectors of culture.

The analysis aims to focus on and enhance some essential aspects in the relationship of universities with urban and youth cultural policies:

  • the meeting and integration of multiple cultures and urban communities;
  • the creation of resources and opportunities for students in relation to the cultural activities of the city;
  • the induced that universities have in the cultural field in terms of their ability to disseminate knowledge and “build ” work, business, economy.
