The project involves the design and implementation of strategic urban regeneration actions to improve the quality of life, in important portions of the Paolo VI and Old Town districts. In particular, the “Old Town” project plans to reopen to the public the use of the area surrounding the Calò ladder, now walled up, at the same time as the renovation of an ancient noble palace to be used as housing for university students and the arrangement of the external areas of the public houses in via Garibaldi.

The Municipality of Taranto involved the Adisu Puglia Agency for the management of the university residences provided for in a noble palace located in Piazzetta Calò, as part of the urban redevelopment and regeneration program within the Old Town in the sector “Ladder Calò. This intervention is part of an integrated group of candidate interventions on the “Historical Compendium”, together with the recovery of some adjoining buildings by private parties, the recovery, in public-private partnership, of some buildings owned by the municipality, the safety of the “built wings” of the heritage overlooking the public routes of the Area, the redevelopment of the system of streets, alleys and squares.

These measures, which, among other things, include private partnerships, will be added to the others already available for both neighborhoods, in particular for the Old Town where the “Isola Madre” plan is already operational.
